Daniel Bressler

Dan Bressler retired from law enforcement after having served his final six years at the Desert Hot Springs Police Department as a commander and Interim Chief of Police from 2014 to 2015. Including his time in Desert Hot Springs, Bressler spent over 40 years in law enforcement (36 sworn) with the following agencies: Orange Co. S.O. (Sgt.), Riverside Co. S.O. (Sgt.), Tuolumne Co. S.O. (Lt.), and Newport Beach P.D.

During his career, Bressler worked in every major area of police work and focused on administrative and support operations, leadership, professional standards, and investigations of every sort. Bressler oversaw or personally conducted scores of workplace investigations and was responsible for the introduction and implementation of the Lexipol Policy and Procedure Manual for two agencies.

Bressler's experience included supervising and managing a SWAT team, dispatch center, traffic bureau, patrol operations and various detectives/task force and tactical units. Bressler worked as a Press Information Officer for three agencies, was an Agency Training Manager, held a Chief Deputy Coroner position and led a County Child Death Review Team.

Bressler was an adjunct professor for the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Academy as well as a high school law enforcement/criminal justice instructor.

Bressler possesses POST Basic, Intermediate, Advanced and Management Certificates.

Bressler is a member of the Association of Workplace Investigators, California Association of Private Investigators and the Newport Beach Police Officer Retirees Association. As the Chief of Police, Bressler was a member of the Cal Chiefs Legislative Law Committee and was an elected trustee for the CPOA Legal Services Program.
