JEFFRY LELAND JOHNSON
Mr. Johnson spent twenty-nine years as a police officer with the Long Beach Police Department, retiring as a commander. He has extensive investigative experience, and was Detective of the Year at LBPD. He has also worked internal affairs, served as the commanding officer of detectives, communications, patrol divisions, custody, juvenile and training. He has also served as a subject matter expert for POST, as well as a legal expert preparing the annual POST Legal Updates.
Master of Public Administration Degree, California State University, Long Beach
Juris Doctor Degree from Taft University. He is a current member of the California Bar Association
Serves as a volunteer Legal Aid attorney

Mr. Johnson has published numerous articles on police force and practices in professional journals such as Police Chief Magazine, Journal of California Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice Policy Review, Police One, Police Officer Research Association of California Law Enforcement, and the AELE Monthly Law Journal. He currently has a book publishing contract and is doing final edits on his first book on police force and video.
Mr. Johnson is a qualified force expert, and has testified as an expert in numerous police force and practices cases. He is also a certified taser instructor.
