Patrick Bailey was with the Garden Grove Police Department for 34 years, retiring at the rank of Sergeant. He was involved in a variety of assignments including Patrol where he was a Field Training Officer, instructing dozens of new officers. Mr. Bailey spent several years as a police investigator, beginning with Personnel Investigation, conducting pre-employment Background Checks. He was later assigned to the Investigation Bureau conducting follow-up on reported crimes and eventually was assigned to the Crimes Against Persons Bureau with the specific assignment of Sexual Assault, Child Abuse and Child Homicide. He was also involved in the investigation of a number of Officer involved shootings.
Mr. Bailey led teams of senior officers and civilians in the development of two Plans of Instruction for the training of new field officers and civilian report writers. He later developed the new assignment of Resort Services to liaison with hotel managers and employees in the Resort area of Garden Grove. Pat was responsible for the investigation of crimes within the district and solving issues that arose within the hotel community.
As a Sergeant, Mr. Bailey supervised field personnel in criminal investigations and conducted workplace investigations regarding alleged employee misconduct. Mr. Bailey was later assigned as a Sergeant in the Professional Standards Division conducting workplace investigations regarding alleged employee misconduct, working with department attorneys on lawsuits, officer involved shootings, Use of Force cases, court testimony in Pitchess Motions, and maintenance of highly sensitive files within the Bureau.
Mr. Bailey served as the Background Investigator for the Redlands Police Department, conducting pre-employment background investigations on candidates for sworn and non-sworn positions. He was also involved in select workplace investigations. He has a California Private Investigator's license and specializes in pre-employment investigations.
